Meet the Owner!

Art City Headshot

When you meet the owner, he will introduce himself to you. Usually by rattling off, with the speed of an auctioneer, “I’m William J Rhatigan, Executive Automotive Technician, Automotive Entrepreneur from the Art City Automotive Institute of Technology. Leader in the Repair of collision damaged vehicles.” Few can even keep up with the speed enough to catch more than his name, but they are always grinning or laughing by the end.

His Experience

He has been driving cars since he was 10 and building cars since he was 16. When he was in his 20’s he opened the best body shop on Long Island in New York. Although he was born and raised there, he discovered a love of snow skiing shortly thereafter. He and a friend organized an Alta Ski Club with 6 or 8 friends from New York. They came to Utah every March for several years. He fell in love with the beautiful mountains and he made the decision to move to Utah when he was 40.

The Move

Finally he came out and drove past the original little shop at 587 S Main St. in Springville, UT and saw a lot of potential. Upon buying the place, he built a state of the art, 10,000 square foot shop and paved the parking lot and made many other improvements to the property. He is very creative and always has a cool project he’s working on!

He and His Crew

To his credit, his 2 main guys have been with him since they were 16 years old, and they know they’ll never find a better boss than Billy. He is the most creative, high energy, loyal, and generous man you’ll ever have the privilege to meet. His customers love him and they wouldn’t take their damaged cars anywhere else!

Contributions to Community

He’s been on Main Street for over 20 years now! Every year he puts on a free car show for the community after the parade of Art City Days. You can hear the rock and roll music blaring and smell the hot dogs grilling!  Come see all the awesome custom cars, and eat a New York dirty water hot dog!
